Chiropractic Care: A Combination of Art, Science & Philosophy

Chiropractic is an art, science, and philosophy, which utilizes the innate powers of the body to heal and maintain itself. Chiropractors focus on the correction of subluxations in the vertebral column. Eliminating subluxations in the spine allows proper transmission of mental and neural impulses between the brain and your body. Chiropractic is the only profession that focuses on the detection and correction of vertebral Subluxations to keep your spine healthy.

Back on Track is proud to have two of the highest rated chiropractors in Burlington.

Chiropractic adjustments are the most essential part of your care.

An adjustment is a specialized, controlled and safe pressure that is applied to joints to correct subluxations and restore proper motion, and position. Spinal joints that aren’t moving right can irritate, and pinch nearby nerves. Chiropractic adjustments add motion to these stuck and locked joints, reducing interference in the nervous system.

Chiropractic adjustments are a very precise procedure that highly skilled chiropractors learn and perfect over years of training at chiropractic college and in clinical practice. You should never try to be your own doctor and adjust yourself! Self-adjusting can be very harmful to your spine and and body. Leave it to the experts!

Are adjustments safe?

Chiropractic is very safe and its record of safety and effectiveness is unmatched in healthcare. Adjustments are among the safest of all health care interventions because they are non-surgical, drug-free and present an extremely low risk.  And they work!

Will adjustments make my spine too loose?

Only the spinal joints that are “locked up” receive adjustments. This allows weakened muscles and ligaments to stabilize and heal. Hello to healthy mobility, goodbye pain and decreased mobility!

Do adjustments hurt?

The most common effect of an adjustment is relief! On occasion, when your  treatment begins - there may be some soreness.  This is similar to starting a new exercise program, as your body adjusts.  When this is true, it only lasts a short time before you feel relief as your body gets healthy!

Who should get adjusted?

If you have a spine, it needs to be healthy.  This means EVERYONE can and should get adjusted! Adjustments are tailored to your size, age and particular health issue.

I'm pregnant, should I get adjusted?

Pregnancy may be one of the best times to receive chiropractic care! Adjusting methods are adapted to a mother’s size, weight and condition. Chiropractic is even proven to reduce labour times!  Yes, please!

Chiropractic care for pregnancy

Pregnancy is an exciting time of joy and anticipation, but all too often it is coloured by pain, discomfort and illness. Many changes are related to weight gain, body repositioning and posture; however this may also include heartburn, indigestion, morning sickness, sciatica, back pain, breathing issues and fatigue. Many changes can be helped by chiropractic care.

A misaligned pelvis may also make it difficult for the baby to get into the best possible position for delivery. This can affect the mother’s ability to have a natural, non- invasive birth. Breech and posterior positions can interfere with the natural ease of labor and lead to interventions such as c-sections.  Back on Track chiropractors are pregnancy specialists, and members of the International Paediatric Chiropractic Association.

I was nervous the first time I went as I was scared to have my back adjusted while I was pregnant .. but Jesse Cracknell made me feel very comfortable. He changed my whole pregnancy and because of him i could actually walk in my last trimester. He is such a great Chiropractor and I would recommend him to anyone ! Especially the pregnant mama who is having hip, back and pelvic issues.

Subluxation

Let's keep it simple.  A subluxation is diagnosed when there is joint damage in your spine.  Your spine protects the nerves in your body.  When there is joint damage in your spine, it may be affecting your nerves. This is what chiropractors treat.

Joint damage anywhere in your body, leads to degeneration.  The joints in your spine, are no different.  The longer there is joint damage in the spine, the more advanced that degeneration may be.  These changes take the form of ongoing degeneration known as “subluxation degeneration”.  X-Rays of the spine are the most reliable method of assessing the extent of any subluxation degeneration.  By understanding the type and amount of changes, it is possible to reasonably estimate the time subluxations have been present in a spine.  Our chiropractors are experts in the most modern procedures, and protocols in the identification and treatment of subluxation.
